Frequently Asked Questions

What is Ayurveda?

Ayurveda is a traditional system of health that originated in India over 5,000 years ago. Rather than treating everyone the same, Ayurveda recognizes that each person is unique and seeks to restore balance through personalized care, lifestyle, nutrition, herbs, and therapeutic bodywork.

I've never had an Ayurvedic treatment before. What should I expect?

Your first visit begins with a conversation about your health, lifestyle, and what you're hoping to receive from your session. Your treatment is then thoughtfully tailored using warm herbal oils and restorative Ayurvedic therapies in a peaceful, nurturing environment.

Do I need to know my dosha?

Not at all. Whether you're completely new to Ayurveda or have been practicing it for years, your session will be personalized to your unique constitution and current needs.

Can I receive treatments if I'm already working with an Ayurvedic doctor or practitioner?

Absolutely. I am happy to work alongside your Ayurvedic doctor or practitioner, providing traditional therapies that complement your personalized care plan and support your healing journey.

How often should I receive treatments?

This depends on your goals. Some clients enjoy treatments as a monthly act of self-care, while others benefit from a series of sessions during times of stress, recovery, seasonal transition, or while following an Ayurvedic treatment plan. Some people might need shirodhara 3 days in a row. It all depends on where you're at and what your budget can allow.

What should I wear?

Wear comfortable clothing that you might not mind getting al little oil on.  Everything needed for your comfort will be provided, along with plenty of privacy.

Who are these treatments for?

These therapies are suitable for anyone seeking deep rest, nervous system support, stress relief, or greater balance. I also have a special passion for supporting women through postpartum recovery and other significant life transitions and currently only work on women unless through a referral.

Are Ayurvedic therapies the same as massage?

While some treatments include therapeutic bodywork, Ayurvedic therapies are much more than massage. Each session is personalized and may incorporate warm herbal oils, heat therapies and specialized techniques designed to support your body's natural return to balance.

I can’t get over how much I enjoyed my treatment with Emma. I've felt amazing since and I’m so glad to have found a practitioner like her in Fort Collins.
